initial sketches of compositions and color palettes. The goal was to not make fan art and to make something really elegant and more mysterious. This piece is very large and with the movie being so iconic there are a lot of scenes and images that people reconize. In order to achieve a incognito look and feel I felt very strongly about not having a bunch of collaged scenes from the film. The goal was to have Harrison Ford unreconizable reading the newspaper so for those who have seen the film it was a nod to the scene and for those who perhaps are not very familiar with the film it appears as a man reading a newspaper.

This piece went through a variety of styles and stages from realism to abstract. In order for me to abstract a painting the content has to be accurately drawn and proportioned in order for me to push the content.

I began to block in the background and paint everything as photo realistic as I could. Before transitioning to a more distorted look it was nice to take a moment with the moody Harrison Ford reading a newspaper.

It was decided to go forward with the initial plan. So with a deep breath I began blurring his face. And it developed into a really great looking painting.
